Halcyon 02 in Washington

We recently delivered a beautiful Halcyon 02 tiny home to the spectacular Cascade mountains of Washington.

The owners are a lovely retired couple who live primarily in downtown Seattle. While they love their adventurous urban life, they wanted a second home where they could escape the city, explore, and enjoy the beautiful nature in the mountains. This Halcyon 02 is their getaway house. Their home away from home. They have named it the Perch which fits it beautiful, sitting directly on the side of a mountain.

There were some unique challenges our clients faced in deciding where to place their tiny home. If you know anything about tiny homes, you know that finding a parking spot can be tricky due to bylaws and zoning. Every community approaches tiny homes on wheels differently. In this area of Washington, if they wanted to place a permanent cabin on the land, they would be required to pave a significant road. But if the home was movable (certified RV), they did not have to pave or incur this cost. This is where a tiny house on wheels was a perfect solution! Upon deliver, we fully skirted it, so you would never know there are wheels on it, but this allowed our clients to put the house exactly where they wanted it to be without the monstrous additional requirements and costs of paving. Time and time again we are learning…where there’s a will, there’s a way! Sometimes we just have to be creative and reimagine what’s possible.

These clients personalized this home design in some really unique ways to fit their priorities and lifestyle.

  • They opted for no couch in the living room, preferring to have the space open. Their dining room seamlessly extends into the mountains they are surrounded be. (They kept the standard window package as it is a tremendous amount of glass – 4’ x 6’ - however additional glass is always an option.)

  • They use the flex room for cozy movie nights, yoga, and as a living room.

  • Because they are dealing with Pacific Northwest weather, they covered their entry with a large awning, making an outdoor space still accessible during rainy days.

  • They also added a hot tub and outdoor shower.

We hope this beautiful home continues to be a place of peace, rest, and connection for them for years to come and were so inspired by this tiny home and the lifestyle it offers. We hope this home is a reminder for people who think – Oh, I could never live tiny – that tiny homes are a perfect addition for people who want a getaway, a cabin in the woods, a secondary vacation home somewhere special.
